General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) President and CEO Pete Bunce issued the following statement regarding the passing of Jim Richmond, founder of CubCrafters:
“Jim Richmond was an extraordinary innovator whose passion for aviation strengthened interest in backcountry flying. His dedication to the general aviation industry was remarkable as he produced aircraft that balanced adventure, safety and innovative technologies. On behalf of the entire GAMA staff and our membership, I extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Jim’s wife, Susan, her family and friends, and the entire team at CubCrafters. Jim was a good friend and devoted leader who leaves behind an incredible legacy that will live on at CubCrafters.”
A memorial service to celebrate Jim Richmond’s life is scheduled for Dec. 4 from 1-3 p.m. PT at the CubCrafters Factory in Yakima, Washington. Family, friends, coworkers and colleagues of Jim, along with CubCrafters customers and backcountry pilots are all welcome. The memorial service will also be live-streamed via Facebook on a special tribute page: facebook.com/RememberingJimRichmond.
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to the Idaho Aviation Foundation or the Yakima Union Gospel Mission in Jim's name, in lieu of flowers.
