AeroJones Appoints Production Test Pilot

July 27, 2020

AeroJones Aviation Technology Co., Ltd. announced the appointment of a Production Test Pilot to aid in assuring high quality of aircraft before delivery to growing list of customers.

AeroJones Aviation manufactures a modern and sophisticated light aircraft called CTLS in Xiamen, China. The aircraft is increasing in popularity as aviation in China and throughout the Asia-Pacific region grows steadily as business begins a return to normal following the outbreak of COVID-19.

“In China, we received new orders for CTLS from flight clubs and schools, reported Mr. Michael Chou, a licensed Commercial Pilot who handles marketing for the Xiamen company.

“Our production team is actively producing aircraft in our Xiamen factory,” added Mr. Chou.

“To assure that a customer receives an aircraft that meets extremely high quality standards and performs and handles as expected, AeroJones performs production flight tests.” A production test pilot is not an experimental test pilot but rather one who assures the produced aircraft meets regulations and customer satisfaction. This is a demanding job as the customer fully expects a superior flying machine from AeroJones Aviation

Our ZhenJiang Flight Club instructor pilot, Mr. Wu, pursued training to become a test pilot in January this year in Germany. A qualified instructor, Mr. Robert Adam from APUS Flight Services GmbH, helped AeroJones and Mr. Wu to complete his training. Mr. Adams is the test pilot and COO of APUS, a engineering company and developer of aviation propulsion systems.

The training goal of AeroJones and Mr. Wu was to assure the test pilot can verify an aircraft ready for delivery matches the performance and flight characteristics of the CTLS type design. CTLS has earned both a Type Certificate (TC) and a Production Certificate (PC) awarded by Civil Aviation Authority for China (CAAC). Production test flying is a part of that approval process to be certain the aircraft manufactured by AeroJones continues to meet high standards.

Production Test Pilot Mr. Wu performs his test flights at Dalu General Airport ZhenJiang, JiangSu, China.

“AeroJones is pleased to further increase the level of quality control as we deliver an increasing number of aircraft to the China flying club and flight school market,” said Mr. Chou. “We first conduct a test run by the AeroJones Aviation pilot and ground crews. When ready, Mr. Wu conducts a flight test that takes about one hour from take off to landing back to the field.

“Three more CTLS aircraft will roll out from the factory and move to production flight test very soon,” concluded Mr Chou of AeroJones.

“CAAC expects AeroJones to conduct its business professionally and to assure customers receive a quality product,” said Mr. Hsieh Chi-Tai, General Aviation Development Vice President for AeroJones Aviation Technology Co., Ltd. “The production test pilot work by Mr. Wu addresses that expectation.”

In late summer 2020, AeroJones will complete a new aircraft factory in China near the Dalu General Airport close to Zhenjiang. Aircraft are fully built in Xiamen, China for the last six years.

Primary markets for AeroJones Aviation include China and Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and other countries in the region.
