Dec. 27, 2022

Dec. 25—A pilot was injured Saturday evening after his single-person plane crashed into a storage facility during taking off, Livermore airport officials said.

The pilot tried to take off at about 5 p.m. from a vacant piece of land owned by the Livermore Municipal Airport and then crashed into a nearby storage facility, according to the airport's interim manager Michael Musca.

Emergency crews responded to the airport and extracted the pilot from the plane. He was taken to a local hospital for his injuries. His condition was not immediately known, according to Musca.

Musca said the pilot, whose identity was not released, is the owner of the aircraft and is based in Livemore.

It was not immediately known what caused the crash.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have been alerted of the incident, said Musca.
