Small Plane Crash Kills 2 People in N.J., Authorities Say

Two people were killed in a small plane crash Monday afternoon in Cumberland County, authorities said.

State Police troopers were called to the crash shortly before 2 p.m. on Parvin Mill Road in Upper Deerfield Township, according to the New Jersey State Police.

The single-engine Champion Aeronca 7AC crashed in a residential yard with two people on board, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The National Transportation Safety Board was leading the investigation, officials said. The NTSB confirmed it was investigating and more details were expected later.

State Police Sgt. Alejandro Goez said the aircraft took off Bucks Airport. Troopers were working with the FAA and NTSB in the investigation, he said.

Photos from the scene from 6ABC.com showed a single-engine plane crashed in the yard of a residential property.

Roads were closed in the area as emergency crews worked at the scene. More information was not immediately available and police have not released the names of the people who died.
