Plane Crashes in Montgomery County, Pilot Spared Life-Threatening Wounds

Aug. 1—PALATINE — The pilot of a single-engine plane was flown by helicopter to Albany Medical Center Hospital after his own aircraft crashed in Montgomery County over the weekend, State Police said.

The privately-owned plane went down in the area of Eaker Road in Palatine around 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, police said.

State Police said the pilot, whose name has not been released, was expected to survive. No other injuries were reported.

A preliminary probe into the crash suggested the aircraft had a mechanical problem not long after take off.

State Police were assisted on scene by the Federal Aviation Administration, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, LifeNet of New York and St. Johnsville EMS.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
