Two Avoid Injury as Plane Goes Off Runway at Lantana Airport
LANTANA -- Two people escaped injury when a small small plane skidded of the runway at the Lantana airport and went at least partly into an adjacent pond, authorities confirmed Tuesday afternoon.
Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue said it arrived at about 3:45 p.m. and paramedics evaluated the two aboard and stopped a small fuel leak.
Federal Aviation Administration records show the plane is a Cessna 172-S, which is a four-seater. It's registered to Palm Beach Flight Training, based at Palm Beach County Park Airport, as the Lantana airport is officially known.
A man who identified himself as a manager of the flight school would not comment.
