Dec. 20--State police have given up on a search for a skydiver "possibly dressed as Santa" who may have parachuted into the Breakheart Reservation in Saugus this morning.

"We received reports in #Saugus of Saint Nick falling from the sky. Unfounded search. Maybe better luck finding him on the 25th!" state police wrote on their Twiter account.

The Danvers barracks reported multiple calls around 10:55 a.m. of a hang-glider or a parachutist over Route 9 in Saugus, and a passing motorist took a snapshot.

State police had responded along with Saugus police. They searched the area, and cleared after finding nothing, state police spokesman David Procopio said.

The FAA is also investigating.

Anyone who wants to jump out of a plane in the area needs a waiver granted by the Boston office of the FAA, said Jim Peters of the FAA. No waivers were granted for today.
