Kyle Pillar, 2019 AMT Next Gen Award Winner

Aug. 22, 2019

Since he was a boy, the act of “putting an aircraft into the sky” has fascinated Kyle Pillar.

“The technology, engineering, and all other activities involved in aviation is something I’ve always wanted to be a part of. I was studying aerospace engineering when I first entered college. After my first year in college, I changed directions in my career path and started my employment at e2b calibration. E2b calibration is an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited calibration and repair laboratory, specializing in quality and compliance services for manufacturers and aviation MRO and FBO facilities nationally. E2b calibration has a wide scope of capabilities supporting aviation groups with all of their calibration and GSE requirements,” said Pillar.

After moving up the rungs at e2b calibration from the shipping department to calibration technician, Pillar is now a quality manager for the company.

“As the quality manager it is my responsibility to monitor, control, and improve our Quality Management System in accordance with the International Standard. I lead and coordinate our training program for all lab personnel, determine and confirm our calibration capabilities, and ensure we are meeting customer contract requirements. I am also responsible for audit planning and addressing customer questions, concerns, and overall satisfaction,” described Pillar.

“As the Quality Manager at e2b calibration, Kyle Pillar has been instrumental in the success of the lab. Since he began this role, he has reduced the average number of non-conformities during ISO audits from an average of 12 to only one non-conformity. Kyle has been through a total of 13 audits to ISO/IEC 17025 and has only received a total of two non-conformities. The most recent audit, he received zero non-conformities. The improvements that Kyle has made in the quality of our lab has allowed us to provide our customers with better service as well as improved quality,” added Aimee Schossler, marketing assistant at e2b calibration, when nominating Pillar.

For the future, Pillar is continuing his education – soon hoping to secure a business management degree.

“My goal is to finish my degree in business management and continue expanding my knowledge in quality services related to aviation. I am focused on delivering the best solutions for everyone I work with,” said Pillar. “By continuing my education and training, I'm able to serve the aviation industry as well as my peers to the best of my capability. I hope to give back not only my knowledge but also my skills to the aviation industry throughout the course of my career.”
