FAA Releases InFO for Part 121 Air Carriers using Foreign-Based Part 145 Repair Stations for Heavy Maintenance

InFO 26012 explains all reporting requirements for these carriers, which involves compiling an annual report to share with the Certificate Management Office for the FAA to review.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently released an InFO updating reporting requirements for part 121 air carriers that receive heavy maintenance at Part 145 repair stations in countries outside the United States.

InFO 26012 explains all reporting requirements for these carriers, which involves compiling an annual report to share with the Certificate Management Office for the FAA to review.

Data that needs to be included in this report includes:

  • Location of heavy maintenance
  • Description of work performed
  • Date of work completion
  • List of failures, defects and malfunctions (no later than 30 days after return-to-service)
  • Certificate number of inspector approving aircraft or engine for return-to-service

After an air carrier submits the report, an administrator will analyze the information to identify any safety issues or inconsistencies that require immediate action. Then, the maintenance provider or air carrier must respond to any safety issue immediately.

According to the FAA, “Part 121 air carriers should review the information in this InFO, as well as 49 U.S.C. § 44733, to ensure their procedures are established and documented to comply with the annual reporting requirements.”
