Lufthansa Technik Announces 287 New Apprentices for 2026 Training Program
Lufthansa Technik is welcoming 287 new apprentices and dual students into the company’s training program as the 2026 training and academic year begins.
2026 also marks the 70-year anniversary of the start of Lufthansa Technik’s vocational training program, where dual students and apprentices can build technical skills and knowledge in aviation maintenance to prepare for different aviation careers, including:
- Technical
- Logistics
- Commercial
However, most training focuses mainly on technical professions in areas of expertise like:
- Aircraft maintenance
- Engine maintenance
- Electronics
- Production technology
220 of the new trainees are starting their programs at the Hamburg location in August, making this the largest center of training for Lufthansa Technik.
This includes 191 apprentices and 29 dual students, preparing for careers in aviation and pursuing degrees like:
- Aviation
- Engineering
- Computer science
Eight of the apprentices at Hamburg will be based in Lufthansa Logistik Services, with one apprentice training as an Electronics Technician for Devices and Systems at the subsidiary Avionic Design.
In Frankfurt, 28 new trainees are entering the program, with 16 at Lufthansa Technik AG and 10 at Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services. There are also two logistics specialists starting apprenticeships with Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services in Munich.
At Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey, 20 trainees are starting, with most specializing in engine maintenance technology.
Lufthansas Technik’s joint venture N3 Engine Overhaul Services in Arnstadt is hosting new trainees as well, with 19 specializing in aviation, including engine maintenance technology and logistics-related roles.
Lufthansa Technik Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Janna Schumacher said, “Seventy years of training at Lufthansa Technik represent generations of young people who have contributed to our success story with their knowledge, dedication and passion.”
Dr. Schumacher continued, “The fact that so many young people have once again chosen an apprenticeship or dual study program with our company in this anniversary year demonstrates the continued attractiveness of the career opportunities at Lufthansa Technik.”
“The future of aviation begins where new talent takes its first professional steps,” added Dr. Schumacher.
