StandardAero Starts Construction on Expansion of Winnipeg MRO Facility
StandardAero has started construction on an expansion of its MRO facility in Winnipeg, MB. The extended maintenance facility will feature 70,000 square feet of new space, enhancing the location’s ability to offer MRO, engine maintenance and engine component repair.
This strategic investment is being completed in collaboration with the Manitoba provincial government—contributing $3 million—as well as other government partners.
The Winnipeg facility services the GE Aerospace CF34-3/8 and CFM International CFM56-7B turbofan engines, offering comprehensive MRO support.
The company provides other services for the CFM56 family as well, including:
- Exchange engines
- Used serviceable material (USM)
- Component repair and overhaul
- EHM data analysis
StandardAero also provides authorized line service maintenance for the CF34 at its Augusta, Georgia location in the United States. At its Gonesse, France, location, the company offers engine health monitoring data analysis.
This expansion aims to make room for increased capacity for servicing the CF34-3/8 engine, which powers aircraft like the Embraer E175 and MHIRJ CRJ700.
Having served the CFM56-7B since 2009, StandardAero holds CFM International General Support License Agreement (GSLA) approval for the engine. The extended facility will be able to handle more services for the CFM56-7B, which is used on the Boeing 737 NG and military variants, such as the P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft.
StandardAero offers services for the Boeing 737NG at two locations:
- Winnipeg, MB, Canada
- DFW International Airport, Texas, United States
“StandardAero is delighted to reinforce its commitment to our CF34 and CFM56 customers worldwide through this new investment in our Winnipeg facility, which will increase the building’s footprint by 40 percent,” said Russ Ford, Chairman & CEO of StandardAero.
Ford continued, “Over the past 25 years, we have developed a reputation for reliable service excellence on the CF34 engine family, and we look forward to exceeding our customers’ expectations on this and all platforms for decades to come.”
Commenting on the Manitoba provincial government’s investment in the expansion, Minister of Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation, the Honorable Jamie Moses said, “Today’s announcement is a powerful example of StandardAero, a world-class company, continuing to choose Manitoba as the right destination for investment.”
Moses added, “Through this partnership, our government is investing in Manitoba’s people, supporting thousands of jobs right here in Winnipeg and building a globally leading aerospace sector.”
Vice President & General Manager - CF34/CFM56 at StandardAero, Peter Wheatley commented, “This new investment in our CF34/CFM56 lines continues StandardAero’s 114-year presence in Winnipeg, and further cements our commitment to our 1,500 employees here.”
Wheatley continued, “Our team has long exemplified StandardAero’s focus on operational excellence, and the approximately 70,000 sq. ft. expansion will benefit from the very latest in world-class equipment and processes when it comes online in the second half of 2026.”
“Moreover, the volume of work represented by this additional capacity over the next several years is already mostly secured through long-term contracts,” said Wheatley.
“StandardAero is a trusted, high performing MRO provider and we’re pleased their facility expansion in Winnipeg will offer our CF34-3/8 engine customers even greater capacity and capabilities to meet their needs,” said Vivek Kuppusamy, General Manager, Regional Engines, GE Aerospace.
Kuppusamy continued, “This site expansion highlights our commitment to an MRO network that offers our customers a choice of facilities and geographies to meet surging travel demand.”
