Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) will support the First Aerospace & Aviation Exhibition and Conferences of Western Africa, in Accra, from 24th to 26th of October 2017.

"We are happy to announce this partnership and support this event, our expertise will help the Organizer in the conference, we are aiming at 3 days of networking for accelerated Air Transport growth in Africa," said Mr Simon Allotey, Director General GCAA.

The world's top ten fastest-growing air passenger markets in percentage terms will be in Africa, according to the latest figures released today by IATA.

Ghana, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Central African Republic, Benin, Mali, Rwanda, Togo, Uganda, Zambia are all expected to grow by more than 8% year-on-year over the next 20 years, doubling in size each decade.Africa as a whole will see an extra 192 million passengers a year for a total market of 303 million passengers by 2035.

The brand new GATA Ghana Civil Aviation Training Academy building will host conferences with more than 10 classrooms for case studies and more than 300 seats for the plenary sessions.
 
The 2 day conference will address key issues and solutions for aviation, through innovative topics and networking opportunities with leading companies in the industry.

About GATA 
GATA was established in 2008 under the Ghana Civil Aviation Sector Upgrade Project (GCASUP) situated at the location of the old air traffic control school, which has been in existence since the late 50s with the mandate to train air traffic control assistants for the then civil aviation department. The old building was remodeled into a modern facility and has a state-of-the-art simulator to train Air traffic controllers for Ghana and the sub-region. GATA as an academy came into operation in 2009 and has since organized various Local and International Aviation courses which has since generated considerable interest among countries in the West African Sub-Region and beyond. 
Currently, the Academy organises courses in Air Traffic Services, Aviation Safety and Security, and Civil Aviation Management. It plans to incorporate other courses in Airport Emergency Services, Aviation Engineering Technology and Computer Information Technology. The near future will see the introduction of management and development courses for other industries that may require such general training. Presently, GATA is affiliated to IATA and seeks to collaborate and forge alliances with reputable Aviation Institutions and other training organizations in due course.
