MONTREAL, MARCH 15, 2019  Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), is honored to have been selected as a Laureate in the Business Aviation – Propulsion category as part of Aviation Week Network’s 62nd Annual Laureates Awards. Pratt & Whitney was recognized for the innovation behind its PW800 engine that entered into service in 2018. The event, which celebrated extraordinary achievements in aerospace and aviation, took place yesterday at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC.

“We are proud to be recognized by Aviation Week for our PW800 engine. We believe that the PW800 is the future of long-range business flying, exceeding industry standards in all areas, including performance, cabin comfort, fuel efficiency and availability,” says Bob Leduc, president, Pratt & Whitney. “Our engine is easily the quietest in its class, giving the aircraft a cabin experience that can’t be matched and delivers a fuel efficiency improvement of over 10 percent compared to similar engines.”

Pratt & Whitney pioneered business aviation with the JT15D turbofan in 1971 and continues to be the leader by powering more than a third of the world’s business jets with more than 91million hours in service. The next generation PW800 is thoughtfully designed with people, performance and customer service at heart and is backed by white glove service with one of the most extensive coverage programs ever offered. The PW814GA is in service on the Gulfstream G500, the PW815GA will enter into service on the Gulfstream G600 later this year, and the PW812 was launched last year as the engine powering the Dassault 6X.
