Aviationtag is giving aircraft enthusiasts a way to own a piece of the original Boeing 757 fuselage through a limited collaboration with Icelandair.

To commemorate the Boeing 757—retired in the fall of 2025— Aviationtag is using recovered pieces from a 757 painted with specialized livery mimicking the Northern Lights to produce limited-edition tags made from real aircraft material.

Each Aviationtag features varying colors from the aircraft’s original livery, depending on the area of the fuselage the piece comes from.

The aircraft that Aviationtag is recovering the fuselage surface material from is registered TF-FIU and known colloquially as Hekla, and it’s flown with airlines like Iberia, Air Europa and Icelandair.

Aviationtag’s team started the project in July 2026 in Cologne, removing sections of the aircraft’s skin which showed the well-preserved Northern Lights livery.

Aviationtag Co-Founder Tobias Richter said, “An aircraft like Hekla Aurora doesn’t come along every day. Its livery and history and the connection people feel to it are simply extraordinary. We knew we wanted to make sure a piece of it would live on.”
