Melbourne, FL, April 5, 2016 – AeroMod International, an industry leader in avionics and airplane structural modification and repair services, announced today that Gary Girard has been named President and that, on April 1, it officially relocated its corporate headquarters to Orlando Melbourne International Airport in Melbourne, Florida, which is considered the fastest growing aviation and aerospace manufacturing center in the U.S.

According to AeroMod Managing Director Daniel Burgess, “Gary brings with him more than three decades of proven leadership and a wealth of broad and deep experience in the aviation industry. He will add considerable strength and guidance to our team as we transform our company to meet the future requirements of an evolving industry.”

AeroMod made the announcements on the opening day of the 21st annual MRO Americas Conference & Exhibition, in Dallas, Texas, where the company is highlighting its range of capabilities and services.

“From our 114,000-square-foot site in Melbourne, which includes a 77,500-square-foot hangar, we are well positioned to support our planned growth as we serve our customers in the U.S. and around the world,” said Girard. “Melbourne is also an ideal location to serve as a base for our Rapid Install Teams,” he added.

From this new facility, Aeromod’s Rapid Install Teams enable the company to deploy talent and materials to customer locations, minimizing aircraft downtime and maximizing operational productivity. “In the end, it’s all about saving the customer time and money,” said Girard.

Commenting on international market dynamics, Girard said the company is expecting a significant surge in retrofit demand. “While adding connectivity to jets of all size is in full swing in the U.S., European airlines have just started offering their passengers broadband internet access on short-haul and long-haul flights.”

AeroMod’s market analysis indicates that 78 percent of U.S. airlines have some form of wifi onboard with 71percent fully rolled out. For non-U.S. airlines 76 percent have no wifi at all with only 13 percent fully rolled out.

Girard said the feedback he is getting from the market clearly shows that this topic is high on the agenda of most airlines. “Thanks to the experience from hundreds of satellite antenna installations for Delta, Air Canada, Virgin Atlantic and other major airlines, AeroMod is able to offer our customers cost efficient retrofits with minimum down time,” he said.

Additional growth drivers for the retrofit market are the installation of the latest generation of fuel saving winglets as well as the introduction of aircraft tracking technology, he said.

The Aviation Week MRO Americas Conference & Exhibition is expected to draw some 10,000 industry and government professionals from around the world. AeroMod is located in Booth 2337 at this year’s show.
