FAA: Engine Trouble Forced Plane’s Emergency Landing at Consumer Reports Testing Site in CT

An engine problem forced a plane to land on a Consumer Reports test drive site over the weekend, the Federal Aviation Administration said Monday.

Jul. 31—COLCHESTER — An engine problem forced a plane to land on a Consumer Reports test drive site over the weekend, the Federal Aviation Administration said Monday.

No one was injured during the emergency landing Sunday, according to the Colchester and East Haddam fire departments.

The single-engine, 1980 Mooney M-20 landed about 11:30 a.m., according to the FAA, which is investigating the incident. There were three people on board.

Valley Shore Communications dispatched firefighters to the Consumer Reports Auto Test Center on Hall Kilbourne Road in Colchester, firefighters said. The plane had landed on the long test track.

According to FlightAware, the plane was headed to Westerly, R.I., from Pittsfield, Mass. at the time of the emergency landing.
