Jun. 17—At a Thursday morning press conference held at the Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport, Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez announced that an aerospace company called Paragon VTOL will relocate to Brownsville.

VTOL stands for "vertical takeoff and landing." Company founder and head Dwight Smith, speaking at the press conference, said Paragon is developing drone aircraft for deliveries, cargo and eventually passengers.

The facility will start operations this year at a site on airport property, he said.
