Warsaw (dpa) - The largest cargo plane in the world, the Antonov An-225 Mriya, landed in Warsaw on Tuesday, carrying medical supplies from China needed in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
The An-225 landed at the Warsaw Chopin airport shortly before 10 am (0800 GMT).
The plane's cargo, which includes 7 million face masks and several hundred thousand protective overalls, had been commissioned by two large Polish firms, refiner Lotos and copper miner KGHM.
The An-225 heavy cargo freighter is the largest aircraft in operation in the world, with a length of 84 metres and a wingspan of over 88 metres. It is powered by six turbofan engines and is able to carry over 250 tons of cargo.
Poland has so far confirmed 7,049 novel coronavirus cases and 251 virus-related fatalities.
