Ameco and SF Airlines Inks RB211 Engine Contract in Zhuhai Airshow

The Chinese freight carrier contracted Ameco for repair and overhaul for forty RB211 engines powering its Boeing 757 fleet.

On November 1st, the opening day of Zhuhai Airshow, Ameco and SF Airlines signed a ten-year contract for engine services. The Chinese freight carrier contracted Ameco for repair and overhaul for forty RB211 engines powering its Boeing 757 fleet.  

Chief Operation Officer-MRO of Ameco Andreas Meisel, General Manager of Ameco Beijing Base Ni Jiliang, and President of SF Airlines Li Sheng signed the contract on behalf of both parties at the signature ceremony. 

As the partner of SF Airlines since the carrier’s startup, Ameco provided services in the field of engine, airframe, component, and line maintenance and freighter conversions. The new long-term contract will further strengthen the partnership and lay a basis for cooperation in an extensive areas. 

Ameco acquired the MRO ability on RB211 in 1993 and has the approvals of CAAC, FAA and EASA to conduct overhaul and modification services on this type. It is the sole MRO provider in China and one of the few in global for this service at present. 

Most of the parts and components can be repaired in Ameco’s own engine shop in Beijing. The key technical competence, such as Metco320 abradable coating repair, honeycomb seal liner brazing repair, high heat resisting enamel repair and composite material bonding repair, enables Ameco to serve customers with high quality and competitive TAT. Meanwhile, Ameco is a Rolls-Royce approved RB211 repair station, making it serve global customers together with this engine OEM. 

Ameco possesses an engine workshop with a floor area of more than 26,000 square meters and a state-of-the art engine test cell with 100,000 pound thrust in Beijing facility, which enables it to overhaul more than 60 engines of V2500, RB211 and PW4000. Boeing 757 freighter conversion is also a highlight product of Ameco. Up to now, it has completed conversions on five 757s in Chengdu facility, three of which from SF Airlines. 

SF Airlines is a member of S.F. Express (Group) Co., Ltd., starts operation from 2009. SF Airlines owns a cargo aircraft fleet that features in the aircraft types of B767, B757 and B737. Up to September 2016, its fleet is up to 34, the largest cargo fleet within mainland China. 

Ameco is a joint venture between Air China Limited and Lufthansa German Airlines with Air China hold 75% and Lufthansa hold 25%. It is a comprehensive major MRO provider in China. Headquartered in Beijing, Ameco consists of a Beijing Base and 

nine branches dotted in Chengdu, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Hohhot, Shanghai, Guiyang, Wuhan and Guangzhou. It has more than 160 maintenance stations at home and abroad, forming a large maintenance network worldwide. It is licensed by CAAC, FAA, EASA as well as the regulatory authorities of near 30 countries and acts as a Designated Modification Design Organization (DMDOR) authorized by CAAC.
