Menzies halts cargo operations at EMA

July 20, 2012

A CARGO business has announced it is to cease operations at East Midlands Airport at the end of next month.

Menzies Aviation, the aviation services arm of John Menzies Plc, will halt operations at the Castle Donington airport in an effort to boost profitability.

The Edinburgh-based firm will also end its cargo operations at Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester airports.

The company will instead focus its UK cargo business on London Heathrow, as well as smaller operations in Aberdeen and Belfast.

A handful of job losses are expected, although these workers may transfer to rival companies that take on the East Midlands Airport contract.
