India's cash-strapped national flag carrier Air India Ltd (AI) is now saying that it will not take back the 101 sacked pilots of the airline out of the 450 striking pilots, the DNA reported. Early this week the Delhi High Court pulled up the airline's management for delaying the reinstatement of the 101 sacked pilots. The Delhi High Court had also asked Air India to respond by Wednesday regarding whether the committee that has been set up to look into the reinstatement of sacked pilots can resolve the issue within a month. "We have already constituted a high-powered committee consisting of two board-level directors and one executive director to look into the cases based on appeals received from the said former pilots. No one from outside would be allowed as it is our internal matter," Reva Khetrapal, the lawyer for AI told DNA. The AI management had sacked 101 pilots during the around two-month-long strike of the airline. Eleven Air India pilots went on an indefinite hunger strike last month demanding reinstatement of the 101 sacked pilots. At present the agitators and the airline management are negotiating on how to reinstate the sacked pilots.
