Challenge Air for Kids and Friends Fly-Day Comes to Texas
Challenge Air provides the experience of flight to children from ages 7-21 with disabilities. Founded by a Vietnam Naval Aviator who became a paraplegic in an aircraft carrier landing crash, his philosophy was simple – use aviation as a means to demonstrate that challenges do not mean limitations. We have had great success in changing attitudes of children with disabilities into one of capabilities rather than limitations. In the 24 years of existence, we have flown over 5,000 kids in North Texas Area alone.
On Saturday, May 14, 2016, 25 volunteer pilots will fly 125 children with special needs and their families to demonstrate the wonder of flight.
Challenge Air for Kids & Friends is conducting a one day event at McKinney National Airport in McKinney, TX on May 14th from 09:00AM to 04:30PM. We would be most appreciative if you would find time in your busy schedule to witness first-hand the miracle of flight for these 125 kids and the hard work of over 200 volunteers.
Many local companies have provided financial and volunteer support: City of McKinney, Monarch Air, Angels of Care, McKinney National Airport, Civil Air Patrol, ELEOS, Kiwanis, Rotary, and Lions Clubs. Representatives from Challenge Air will be on hand to answer any questions.
We hope to see you there and enjoy what I have witnessed through my involvement – it is truly a moving experience to see these children change after a flight. We are also certain that participants will allow a ride-along to get you up in an aircraft to see what they experience as well.
