Pilots Survive Mission Ridge Plane Crash
Aug. 30—WENATCHEE — A plane with two pilots crashed into Bomber Bowl on Mission Ridge Sunday afternoon. Both pilots survived the crash without injury.
A crash report of the two pilots, who left from Boeing Field airport, first came in at roughly 5 p.m., said Chelan County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Scott Lawrence, who responded to the crash.
The plane, a Cessna 172, dropped into the bowl after its pilot became disoriented and flew into the wrong canyon, he said.
The pilot did not have space to maneuver or enough power to get over the mountain, he said. A pilot-in-learning and an instructor had been flying the plane.
The plane was destroyed in the crash, he said.
Lawrence said the plane crash has no relation to the South Wenatchee brush fire which also occurred Sunday afternoon nearby.
