Harrison Ford Cleared by FAA Following Plane Investigation

The Federal Aviation Administration has cleared Harrison Ford following a plane incident earlier this year.

The organization began its investigation in April after the actor, 77, crossed the runway in a small plane at Los Angeles' Hawthorne Airport where another aircraft was set to take off.

“The FAA has closed the case involving the pilot who crossed a Hawthorne Municipal Airport runway without authorization on April 24, 2020,” reads a statement by the FAA. "The FAA required the pilot to take a remedial runway incursion training course.

“When the pilot successfully completed the course, the FAA closed the case with no additional action.”

The situation in April occurred after Ford, a longtime pilot, misheard a radio instruction from Air Traffic Control, a representative for the “Indiana Jones” star said at the time.

“He immediately acknowledged the mistake and apologized to ATC for the error," Ford’s rep said in April. "The purpose of the flight was to maintain currency and proficiency of the aircraft.”

Ford’s representative said there were no injuries, nor was there any risk of a collision.

In 2015, the “Star Wars” icon was hospitalized after he experienced engine failure during a flight, forcing him to make an emergency landing. In 2017, the FAA investigated Ford after he landed on the wrong runway at Orange County Airport, but did not fine the actor.
