Fighter Jets Called to Force Plane in No-Fly Zone to Land in Pa.
The buzz of fighter jets provided some concern and excitement Friday night in the Lehigh Valley.
The jets were called to force a plane to land at Braden Airpark in Forks Township, said Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority spokesman Colin Riccobon.
A no-fly zone was in place for President Donald Trump’s visit to New Jersey. Trump hosted Gov. Phil Murphy and his wife for dinner at Trump’s Bedminster golf club.
Riccobon referred questions about the incident to the U.S. Secret Service.
Forks Township police posted on its Facebook page after hearing from residents concerned about the jet activity at the airpark.
“No one is hurt and no crash occurred at the airport. Furthermore the public is not in any danger and the incident was a miscommunication between the pilot and air traffic control tower, due to restricted air space,” police said.
