June 20--CORINTH --The Corinth Board of Aldermen on Tuesday accepted a grant offer from the Mississippi Department of Transportation to the Corinth-Alcorn County Airport in the amount of $102,069.

The city board joined the Alcorn County Board of Supervisors which also accepted the grant offer, with the city and county each providing matching funds in the amount of $516 to make up the 1 percent match amount of $1,031 for a project total of $103,100.

The funds will be used to construct a canopy for the existing fuel farm and also to rehabilitate the old terminal building so it can be put to use by a fixed base operator for flight training, aviation electronics or other purposes, said airport attorney William Odom.
