LONDON, UK – December 18, 2017 – Element Materials Technology has today announced that it has entered into a binding agreement to purchase Metals Testing Company (MTC), a non-destructive testing (NDT) service provider located in Connecticut, United States.
MTC is a Nadcap accredited special processor, providing a complete range of NDT testing services and related chemical processing, primarily servicing the aerospace industry, with a unique niche service focused on titanium critical rotating parts. Inspection services include fluorescent penetrant inspection, magnetic particle inspection, and ultrasonic testing. Chemical processing includes blue etch anodize, chemical etch, anodic etch, nital etch, swab etch, pre-pen etch, grain flow detection etch, and chem milling.
Charles Noall, President and CEO of Element, says: ‘’We are delighted to have signed this agreement to acquire MTC, complementing our existing aerospace NDT facilities in California, Houston, Monterrey, Mexico and Sheffield, UK.
MTC is a world class inspection facility and one of the very few independent laboratories in the world that is certified to perform blue etch anodize inspections. With the LEAP and PW1000 engines, the aerospace industry is experiencing a need to increase its production capacity and our ability to respond to this increase is bolstered by this acquisition.’’
Bob Delisle, President, MTC commented: ‘’We are extremely proud of the achievements of our team and the strong reputation we have built since our company was founded in 1962. We see joining forces with Element, the global market leader in aerospace testing services, as the natural next step for MTC. Becoming part of the Element Group means that we will continue to deliver technical and service excellence to our customers, whilst further expanding our capabilities and capacity to better support their needs.’’
Element is the number one provider of aerospace testing services in the world, with 44 laboratories located in the Americas and Europe, that provide a comprehensive range of materials testing, product qualification testing and calibration services for the industry. With 30 Nadcap accredited laboratories, the highest of any independent materials testing company in the world, services include metallographic evaluations; fatigue and fracture toughness testing; creep and stress rupture testing; non-destructive testing; EMI/EMC testing; and hydraulics and pneumatics.
The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of December 2017.
