DALLAS, September 5, 2017 – The Americas are home to some of the world’s largest airline groups. Amadeus is underlining its commitment to that region today, with the appointment of Elena Avila, the current global head of airline strategy to lead its airline business in the region.

In her new role as Executive Vice President, head of Airlines for the Americas, Avila will drive the business and solution strategy for Amadeus’ airline segment in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. She will also oversee the implementation, delivery and customer care teams. In ongoing support of the airline industry, Avila and her team will focus on delivering the right solutions for airlines to execute their distribution and IT strategies optimally, while continuing to nurture long-term customer partnerships.

Avila will assume her new position October 1, 2017, based in Amadeus’ Dallas office. As in her previous airline strategy role, Avila will report to Julia Sattel, the President of Airlines.

“Amadeus has 30 years of unmatched experience and success working with airlines worldwide. We have helped hundreds of carriers evolve, grow and increase customer loyalty. As travelers and the marketplace continue to evolve, so must airlines, and Amadeus has the solutions to help make that happen,” said Avila. “The Americas region is the world’s leading travel market, with a strong heritage and a huge geographical reach. Our airline customers both in North America and Latin America have unique needs and business objectives. I look forward to putting our solutions, expertise and people to work to help carriers across the region achieve their goals, now and in the future.”

Avila joined Amadeus in 2010 from Morgan Stanley and has held key leadership posts in investor relations, commercial finance and airline business strategy.

“We are absolutely committed to the continued success of our Americas airline customers and we are sending one of our strongest leaders to head our business there,” said Julia Sattel, President of Airlines, Amadeus. ”Elena’s leadership and expertise will strengthen our engagement with our current and potential customers, in a region that’s home to some of the world’s most innovative airlines.”
