Adelte And Hyundai Rotem Sign Agreement To Strengthen Airport Activities

Oct. 19, 2012

Barcelona, 19 October 2012 – ADELTE Group, an engineering company based in Barcelona and specialised in the design and manufacture of Passenger Boarding Bridges, has just signed an industrial and technological cooperation agreement with HYUNDAI ROTEM. The Korean company is part of the HYUNDAI MOTOR GROUP, one of the largest and most modern industrial groups in South Korea with over 120,000 employees and a turnover of around 100,000 million dollars.
This agreement will allow ADELTE to avail of the industrial power of HYUNDAI ROTEM, and especially its ultra-modern factory in Dangjin, situated on the west coast of the country and specialised in manufacturing Passenger Boarding Bridges. The highly strategic location of the factory provides direct access to the sea, which significantly facilitates the loading of the bridges and their transportation by ship.
ADELTE will manufacture its Passenger Boarding Bridges in South Korea, which will mainly be the Apron Drive type – the same as those recently installed for AENA at the airport in Valencia – and intended for the European, Middle Eastern, African, Central American and South American airport markets.
ADELTE is currently completing the expansion of its factory in Monzón (Huesca), a project costing almost one million euros, where they will continue to manufacture bridges for other markets, in addition to the more sensitive technological components such as the cabin and the upper and lower units of the gantry group.
This agreement forms part of ADELTE’s international expansion strategy. It will allow the Group to increase its competitiveness by optimising production costs while achieving, at the same time, a significant production capacity that is flexible and adaptable to any type of order or number of units.
“Both companies are entirely complementary in this project: ADELTE offers state-of-the-art technology, its engineering centre and its know-how in designing sophisticated airport passenger bridges, and HYUNDAI ROTEM provides substantial industrial experience and modern facilities. We are very excited about signing this agreement which will make ADELTE one of the most competitive groups worldwide” added Josep María Bartomeu, CEO of ADELTE Group.
