Pratt & Whitney Awarded 20-Year Service Agreement

Contract covers FedEx fleet of PW4000-94 engines

ASIAN AEROSPACE 2006, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Federal Express Corporation has selected Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies Company (NYSE:UTX), to provide an off-wing Fleet Management Program (FMP) in an exclusive 20-year contract that covers the company's fleet of PW4000-94 engines.

"This is one of the largest and wide ranging service agreements we have received and grows our MRO operations around the world, especially in the Asia-Pacific region," said Jim Keenan, senior vice president, Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners. The agreement includes the overhaul and repair of 135 PW4000 engines operating on FedEx's fleet of MD-11s, A300s and A310s, with the option to include additional PW4000-equipped aircraft added to their fleet throughout the life of the contract. The engines will be maintained within the Global Service Partners restoration and repair network. Financial terms were not disclosed.

In performing this contract, Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners will manage the performance of the PW4000 fleet using its Advanced Diagnostics and Engine Management (ADEM) system. ADEM is a web-based, automated tool that provides detailed maintenance information to achieve the lowest possible total costs with optimal engine reliability and time on-wing.

Global Service Partners, Pratt & Whitney's engine services business, is an industry leader in customer solutions and service excellence. It has more than 500 aviation customers served by a worldwide network of 24 overhaul and repair facilities capable of servicing all Pratt & Whitney engines, as well as the V2500 and CFM56. In addition to restoration and repair services, customers count on Global Service Partners to provide on-wing repair services, advanced engine monitoring and diagnostics, competitive engine lease programs and custom engine service programs.
