West Star Aviation Performs Lear 60 Avionics Install
GRAND JUNCTION, CO – West Star Aviation Inc. announce the completion of a Lear 60 avionics installation.
The installation included the Dual Universal UNS-1Ew Flight Management Systems with WAAS (West Star STC), L3 GH-3100 solid state standby altitude/airspeed and vertical speed indicator (West Star STC), Dual Collins RTU-4220 Radio Tuning Units, Universal MFD-980 with ASU (Application File Server) (Stevens STC), and WSI Satellite Weather system. In order to perform this install, West Star Aviation had to remove the Collins SDU-640 monochrome CRT navigation display unit, BF Goodrich ADI-331B standby attitude indicator, Avionix 2C131 standby airspeed indicator, and the Dual Universal UNS-1C+.
By removing the old standby indicators and installing the GH-3100, real estate is free to allow the RTU-4220s to be installed in the center instrument panel. With the old standby indicators the RTUs need to be positioned in the rear of the pedestal, which is cumbersome and hard for the pilots to view. The old standby indicators are becoming difficult to service, thereby making the GH-3100 more appealing. The Universal MFD-890 gives the pilots great situational awareness with Jeppview charts for departure, arrival, and taxi information. WSI satellite weather is also displayed to give the pilots in-flight weather graphics with TFRs and NextRad. The Universal UNS-1Ews allow the pilots to shoot a WAAS LPV approach with ceiling minimums of 250 feet with visibility of one-half mile.
