Summer Camp Exposes Teenagers to Careers in Aviation

Tennessee camp's opening day touring Pinnacle Airlines' system operations center to speak with schedulers, maintenance controllers, crew schedulers, and others.

An aviation career camp gave Brandon Evans a blueprint for achieving his dream.

Seventeen summers later, Evans, a UPS first officer and Tennessee Air National Guard major, watched with interest as 47 high school students followed in his footsteps.

"I always wanted to fly," said Evans, 32, a White Station High School student when he attended the first Memphis Aviation Career Education (ACE) camp in 1992. "This gave me a clear road map of 'this is how you do it.' "
