Dulles Jet Center hangars, amenities back in business after vicious storm
DULLES, Va. – Less than two years after a February 2010 record snowfall severely damaged three of its four hangars and part of the fourth one, Dulles Jet Center re-opened with two new hangars and is back to providing high-quality service to the corporate jet community.
Dulles Jet Center is scheduled to complete construction on the final two hangars next month. “We took an unfortunate situation and turned it into a benefit for our customers by upgrading the hangars and returning this facility to the finest hangar-based corporate aircraft facility in the nation,” said Nathan Landow, who along with Michael and David Landow are the owners of Dulles Jet Center.
The newly constructed and upgraded facility now features 160,000 square feet of hangar space that provide improved energy efficiencies that include high-efficiency radiant heat, energy management systems and automated climate control.
“I’m impressed with the team on this project. They did a great job of making the repairs and keeping on schedule,” Landow said. The new hangars, that already house 12 corporate jets, were designed by a globally renowned design team led by by the Hensel Phelps Construction Company. Landow added, “cooperation from the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority at Dulles was crucial in ensuring this project was completed in record time. I can’t say enough about their support.”
Dulles Jet Center support facilities offer private jet owners high-tech shop space for their mechanics, quality pilot lounges, office space and more than 300,000 square feet of ramp parking. All industry leading for hangar-based aircraft facilities.
With hangar space already available for rent, Landow anticipates that space to fill up quickly given Dulles Jet Center’s high-tech offerings and increasing demand for quality hangar space. “It’s been a year and a half of hard work and an education to see this come together. I’m optimistic about the future,” said Landow.
