Poor visibility is causing some arriving flights into San Francisco International Airport to be delayed an average of 53 minutes this morning.

The traffic management program could result in delayed departures as well, as the late arrivals begin to be felt throughout the system.

People were urged to check with their airlines to see if their specific flights have been affected by the ''low ceiling'' created by the heavy fog.

At Mineta San Jose International Airport, general departure delays lasting 15 minutes or less were occurring as traffic is held up at gates and planes were waiting their turn to take off. General arrival delays of 15 minutes or less were also occurring.
