A drum containing cigarette lights taken from passengers at the Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, Calif., caught fire in an office, injuring a security worker.

The fire Wednesday started when the security worker dropped the 20-gallon drum containing a month's worth of lighters, the Los Angeles Daily News reported.

The worker was later treated at a hospital.

Part of a terminal was cleared as a precaution for about 10 minutes.

"This falls under the category of a minor and freak accident," airport spokesman Victor Gill told the newspaper.

Officials suspect the container had accumulated vapors from the lighters, and when the worker dropped the bin, it caused the vapors to ignite, the report said.

Hereon, security contractors will be responsible for storing such items in ventilated areas outside.
