Noise is set to increase temporarily next week at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport for people who live next to it, according to airport spokesman Jim Reynolds.

Because of damage from Hurricane Wilma, routine airfield maintenance work that was scheduled for this week has been rescheduled to next week.

The work will close the North Runway from Nov. 10-13.

During this time, the airport will use the Crosswind Runway. People living in northeast Dania Beach and southwest Fort Lauderdale will hear more airplane noise over their communities.

The routine airfield maintenance work includes rubber removal, repainting of the runway and repairs to the runway lighting system.
