Second Quarter Results Announced by Jazz Air

Aeroplan Income Fund, which has a minority stake in Air Canada's frequent flyer programme, reported a 25% increase in profit.

Air Canada's regional carrier, Jazz Air LP, has announced financial results for the second quarter of 2006.

Jazz Air Income Fund said that the airline earned CAD36m, or CAD0.29 per trust unit, showing an increase from CAD24m, or CAD0.24 per unit, in the prior year.

Operating revenue increased by 47% to CAD340m, as compared to CAD231m in the second quarter of 2005. Distributable cash increased by 72% to CAD34m from CAD20m a year ago, according to Reuters.

In addition Aeroplan Income Fund, which reportedly has a minority stake in Air Canada's frequent flyer programme, reported a 25% increase in profit.
