Business Travelers Rate D/FW One of the Best

Recent improvements and added amenities lead to a favorable ranking.

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport's $2.7 billion expansion appears to be paying off, at least in passenger satisfaction.

A survey from Business 2.0 magazine released Friday ranked D/FW as one of the nation's five best airports for business travelers.

The other four are in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Denver, San Francisco and Charlotte, N.C.

At D/FW, the magazine described recent improvements that led to the favorable mention -- the Skylink train, which whizzes passengers between terminals; the international Terminal D; and eight business centers.

Also praised was Terminal D's new parking garage, which has 8,100 spaces and is equipped with "smart" technology that tells users how many spaces are in an area are available.

D/FW boasts short wait times for security -- about 12 minutes during peak times. Other business amenities include abundant Internet access, both wireless and at kiosks, and the on-site Grand Hyatt DFW hotel.

The accolade marks a turnabout for the sprawling North Texas airport, long derided for its antiquated train system that slowed connections between terminals.

The Business 2.0 report reinforces a recent study by J.D. Power and Associates, which ranked D/FW fourth among large airports in customer satisfaction.

In the June study, J.D. Power found key improvements at the world's third-busiest airport for security checkpoints and for changes at its terminals.

D/FW was in line with other large airports for its accessibility and baggage claim operation -- the research firm's two most important factors in determining customer satisfaction.
