WASHINGTON - The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded grants totaling more than $5.3 million for improvements and other projects at 12 airports in Arkansas' 1st Congressional District, according to a news release from U.S. Rep. Marion Berry, D-Ark.
The grant recipients are: West Memphis Municipal Airport (Crittenden County) - $1,710,000 for runway rehabilitation.
Ozark Regional Airport (Baxter County) - $579,500 to construct a taxiway.
Stuttgart Municipal Airport (Prairie County) - $553,000 to preserve and extend life of airport pavement.
Pocahontas Municipal Airport (Randolph County) - $508,250 to construct taxiways.
Thompson-Robbins Airport (Phillips County) - $466,464 to improve runway safety area.
Clarendon Municipal Airport (Monroe County) - $421,770 to replace runway.
Delta Regional Airport (St. Francis County) - $392,825 to begin engineering design of new airport.
Calico Rock Airport (Izard County) - $307,800 to construct a taxiway.
Frank Federer Municipal Airport (Monroe County) - $215,031 for construction of additional aircraft parking and an access taxiway to aircraft parking.
Carlisle Municipal Airport (Lonoke County) - $95,000 for construction of additional airport aircraft parking.
Melbourne Municipal Airport (Izard County) - $59,755 to construct a taxiway.
Woodruff County Airport - $55,100 to develop airport layout plan and identify needed improvements.
