A contract for the sale of 20 EMBRAER 195 aircraft from aircraft manufacturer Embraer, has been signed with Brazilian airline BRA Transportes Aereos, with a further 20 options for the same model, ratifying the initial commercial contract signed in June.

BRA confirmed it has 20 rolling options which provide purchase rights for a further 15 aircraft, with potential for the overall order to total 75 aircraft. The firm order, at list price, is valued at USD730m and could reach USD2.7bn if the other 55 aircraft are confirmed.

The EMBRAER 195, configured with 118 single-class seats, was selected by BRA for its business model, which will provide direct flights to cities which are now connected by multi-stop flights. BRA claimed the 195 offers flexibility, comfort and low operating cost and will act as the basis for its fleet expansion.

BRA, reportedly the first Brazilian airline to operate Embraer's modern E-Jets in Brazil, has also signed a leasing contract with GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS) to operate two new EMBRAER 195s, with delivery due early in 2008.
