United Airlines (Nasdaq: UAUA) has said that the first international aircraft to complete the company's multi-million dollar product enhancement is scheduled to take flight on 29 October.
The aircraft is set to take off from Washington Dulles for a flight to Frankfurt and will be featuring true flat-bed seats, on-demand entertainment and other amenities.
The first of the 97 international aircraft that will be modified is a Boeing 767 and is, after its inaugural flight, scheduled to alternate flying between Washington, DC to Frankfurt and Washington, DC to Zurich.
Following the Boeing 767 will be a Boeing 747, scheduled to begin flying in mid-December, and a Boeing 777, scheduled to fly in early February.
United said that the schedule is set to accelerate after the first three aircraft and will run in parallel by aircraft type through to autumn 2009, with approximately one reconfigured aircraft per week joining the fleet.
