Designer and manufacturer of aircraft engines Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC), a business unit of United Technologies (NYSE:UTX), announced on Wednesday (26 September) that the company has signed a five-year agreement with Standard Aero Limited for 531 new PT6A series engines under Pratt & Whitney Canada's Converter Enhancement Programme. Under this agreement, Standard Aero will use the Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) engines for various turboprop aircraft upgrade programmes under Supplemental Type Certificates. P&WC's Converter Enhancement Programme reportedly allows companies that offer modifications and conversions, to purchase and install new engines on specified aircraft. P&WC provides a number of re-engine opportunities through its Fleet Services upgrade programmes. It offers customers a new engine of the same type installed on the original aircraft or an alternate engine model delivering higher power. Financial details of the agreement were not available.
