Officials of an aviation services company in Colorado have proposed a $25 million private club at Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling that would cater to jet owners and executives who use charter aircraft.
Josh Stewart, president and chief executive of XJet World, outlined the proposal at Thursday's meeting of the airport board.
He said XJet World wants to build up to five hangars and a clubhouse with an upscale restaurant on 10 to 14 acres south of the control tower. The airport is formerly known as Palwaukee Municipal.
XJet World operates a facility at Centennial Airport in Englewood, Colo., and is building another one in Grand Rapids, Mich. The company aims to attract customers by offering massages and concierge services while selling aviation fuel at a discount to club members.
Board members took no action but asked Dennis Rouleau, airport manager, to gather more information.
