Decade-long director of aviation passes away
The following statement was issued today from Greg Principato, president, ACI-NA, on the death of William DeCota, director of aviation for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey: "Yesterday the aviation industry lost one of its giants with the passing of Bill DeCota, Director of Aviation for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ). Plain spoken and committed to ensuring the best possible air service to the New York/New Jersey region, Bill understood this work also enhanced the aviation system for many other cities. He was respected by airport and airline officials not only in the United States but throughout the world. "Despite the tremendous workload in running the world’s largest airport system, Bill always found time to assist his colleagues, not only while he served on the ACI-NA Board, but anytime someone needed his help. He also dedicated his time and energy to making his community better, with the same intellect and enthusiasm that he brought to all projects. "Bill’s legacy will long live on in the aviation industry and the community and everyone who ever worked with him or considered him a friend will never forget him."
