FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. --

An odor of smoke in the cabin forced a JetBlue flight from Fort Lauderdale to make an emergency landing Wednesday afternoon.

A representative of the airline said the odor was reported shortly after Flight 1757 took off at 12:02 p.m. on its way to San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The plane made a safe emergency landing just after 1 p.m.

The JetBlue representative said maintenance workers are inspecting the plane. A new plane is being sent to Nassau to pick up the passengers and take them to San Juan.
