Beckum, Dec. 7, 2010 – To ensure reliable and quick baggage handling for the European Football Championship 2012 in Poland and Ukraine at Gdansk Airport, general contractor Hydrobudowa Polska S.A. decided to use the BEUMER autover® baggage transport system. BEUMER, a leader in the manufacture of intralogistics will supply and install a rail system with a length of 506 metres, 44 vehicles - the so-called BEUMER autoca®, as well as 20 induction belt conveyors and 12 destinations. The visual display system and the host system (SAC - Sort Allocation Computer) are also part of the scope of supply. A BEUMER service team will supervise and maintain the complete baggage handling system on site over a period of more than five years. The system is scheduled for operation by February 2012.

The BEUMER autover® transports, stores and sorts the checked baggage gently, economically, quickly and reliably. The intelligent BEUMER autoca® are equipped with an on-board-controller and discrete drive unit. They move autonomously, silently and independent of each other through the rail system at a speed of up to 10 metres. The system is highly available and requires little maintenance, due to the contactless energy supply.

This state-of-the-art system will take care of baggage handling at Gdansk Airport, just in time for the European Football Championship 2012.
