American Airlines' April traffic up 2.7 percent while capacity grows 3.9 percent

This growth was outpaced by a 3.9% increase in capacity, resulting in the monthly load factor dropping to 81.1% compared to 82.0% in April 2010.

American Airlines' traffic on international routes grew 10.9% year-on-year on a capacity increase of 11.6% and its domestic traffic rose 1.8% on 0.8% less capacity.

The airline boarded 7.12 million passengers last month, down slightly from the same period in 2010.
