ELECTRICAL TEST TOOL

TESlite enhanced voltmeter leads are an inexpensive, OEM-approved electrical test tool, designed by a mechanic to identify corrosive/ high resistance faults in wiring. This allows a more effective, timely and less expensive electrical troubleshooting process that can help reduce or eliminate the unnecessary replacement of good parts. To use this tool simply connect it to any digital voltmeter and check for system voltage per manufacturer instructions. If system voltage is present, the TESlite is activated to load test the circuit. A substantial drop in voltage indicates the presence of a resistive fault. Correct manipulation of the leads first isolates the fault between the positive or negative side of the load, and then can then pinpoint it down to the specific failed conductor. For more information call (877) WRENCH2 or visit www.TESLITE.com.

HANDS-FREE HEADLIGHT

Streamlight Inc. offers the hands-free Streamlight 3AA HAZ-L0 Headlight, which has received the Underwriters Laboratories Inc.’s Division 1 safety rating. ROTARY HEARTH OVEN

No. 982 is a 1,000 F, electrically heated rotary hearth oven from The Grieve Corp., currently used for heat treating machined metal shafts at a customer’s facility. Workspace dimensions measure 24” W x 11” D x 30” H with a 26- inch diameter hearth constructed from overlapping steel plates with 24 pipes holding pin inserts to support the workpieces. 24 KW installed in Incoloy sheathed tubular heating elements provide power, while a 1,000 cfm, 1-hp recirculating blower provides radiant horizontal airflow to the workload. An additional cooling blower is mounted beneath the loading table to cool the parts in the front middle three positions of the hearth. The hearth is driven by a 1/4-hp motor through a gear reducer with torque limiting device, variable from 0.1 to 0.5 revolutions per hour. A loading table is provided in front of the oven to hold extra pin inserts (shown in photo). For more information visit www. grievecorp.com or call (847) 546-8225.

TOOL PROTECTION

For users who need a quick and easy way to protect their tools in transit, Pelican Products Inc. offers a readymade custom foam solution that sets up in seconds. When liquids inside the packets are mixed, a fully recyclable, shock-absorbent foam barrier is formed to protect virtually any object. Available in five sizes, (the largest can cover an area up to 20” x 30”) the foam will fit a wide variety of Pelican Protector Case models. Additionally, the Instapak can work in conjunction with Pelican’s Pick ‘N’ Pluck foam which comes standard in most models. The case sports a trademarked “Dual Band” design and a polymer cell-core wall construction. To ensure easy access, the cases are designed with industrialstrength “double throw” latches that can withstand nearly 400 pounds of pressure yet open with a light pull. Additional standard features include a lid equipped with a polymer oring for a dust and waterproof seal, and an automatic Gore-TEX pressure equalization valve, that stops moisture from entering and prevents vacuum-lock so the case opens easily at any altitude. For more information visit www.pelican.com or call (800) 473-5422.

FLYWHEEL POWER SYSTEM

The Pentadyne VSS+DC is an advanced DC flywheel power system that stores energy kinetically instead of chemically, delivering stable, reliable, DC voltage for applications where power continuity is critical. Flywheel energy systems can eliminate the need for hazardous, maintenance-laden batteries in Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, or they can be deployed as the first line of defense with battery arrays to dramatically improve battery longevity and reliability. The flywheel system provides sufficient ride-through for short duration utility power outages (98 percent of which last less than 10 seconds) or until a backup generator can come online. Capable of supplying a 225 kVA load for more than 12 seconds (longer for lower demand), each VSS+DC module can be seamlessly paralleled without any communications gear for higher output, redundancy, and/or longer duration power requirements. For more information visit www. pentadyne.com or call (818) 350-0370.

SET HOLDERS FOR PNEUMATIC SQUEEZERS

Isham Inc. offers aerospace industrial quality adjustable set holders for pneumatic squeezers. They have been developed to provide a dependable product for both the standard 1-inch (2 9/16-inch long) and 1 1/4-inch (2 13/16-inch long) yoke bases used on standard pneumatic squeezers. Other features include high-strength materials that will stand up to the compressive loads generated by pneumatic squeezers, high reliability, and easy adjustment with a usable range of almost a full inch in the 3,000-psi squeezer. The advantage of an adjustable set holder is that the need to use a shim washer under the squeezer sets is eliminated. This makes it very easy for the operator to adjust for rivet length quickly and to maintain that precise setting during continuous riveting operations. The adjustable set holder is easy to install and to adjust. For more information visit www.PlaneTools.com.

BOX WRENCH RATCHET ADAPTERS

Ratchet adapters from Stanley Proto are designed to add more versatility to the technician’s toolbox. When plugged into the head of a ratcheting box wrench, these accessories convert the wrench into an ultra-thin ratchet head that will accept the same sockets and attachments as a standard ratchet. The line includes adapters that are made to fit into 3/8-, 1/2-, and 3/4-inch, 10 mm, 13 mm, and 19 mm ratcheting wrenches. It also includes 1/4-, 3/8-, and 1/2-inch drive versions. The main benefit of an adapter is that it creates a very low-profile ratchet. That means it can more easily squeeze into very tight spaces, such as those found on today’s aircraft engines. Ratchet adapters can also reduce the number of tools a mobile maintenance technician has to lug from place to place. That’s because the technician can now carry three small adaptors, rather than three full-size ratchets. The ratchet adapters can be used with 1/4-, 3/8-, and 1/2-inch drive sockets, either English or metric, as well as with spline sockets. In addition, Proto is offering bit adapters that will accept 1/4-inch screwdriver bits. They’re designed to be used with a 3/8-inch or 10 mm ratcheting wrenches. For more information visit www.stanleyproto.com or call (800) 800-TOOL.

WRENCH

GearWrench offers the X-Beam, a patent-protected wrench handle design that increases hand contact area by up to 500 percent over traditional wrenches, providing greater comfort and control for the user. One end of the X-Beam wrench is forged at a 90-degree angle from the other end, and the tapered handle is thicker on both sides than a standard wrench. Whether working with the box-end or the open-end, the user will grasp the wider side of wrench beam instead of a thin handle edge as with traditionally designed flat wrenches. The wrench also features a 75 percent reduction in silhouette clearance (open-end outline), which allows access into tight spaces. The metric sizes will range from 8 to 19 millimeters. The SAE sizes will include 1/4 to 3/4 inch. The wrenches will sell in five-, nine-, and 12-piece sets. For more information visit www.gearwrench.com or call (800) 688-8949.
