Godtfred Vestergaard, founder of Vestergaard Company, has peacefully passed away at 89, surrounded by his family. Godtfred founded Ingeniørfirma G. Vestergaard in 1962, which was renamed to the current Vestergaard Company as part of the company’s 50th anniversary in 2012.

Godtfred was an entrepreneur all of his life and laid the foundation to his later career as early as 1936, where he at the age of 7, built a mechanically-advanced pedal car.

Throughout his life and career, Godtfred was renowned for recognizing engineerical challenges and finding the right combinations of technique and talent to achieve innovative solutions. He was deeply passionate about driving his company and motivating his employees towards finding and utilizing the best possible technical solutions in the development of his company and its products.

After handing over the daily management of Vestergaard Company to his son Stefan in 1996, Godtfred stayed involved with Vestergaard Company as a member of the board. He also stayed active during his retirement with runs in the local area and renovating and restoring old tractors to their former glory at his workshop.

Godtfred will be fondly remembered as a great entrepreneur, manager/colleague and inspirator and – not least – for his dry sense of humor. He is survived by his three children, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
