CHESAPEAKE, Va. – March 2, 2017 – Volvo Penta has begun supplying Tier 4 Final VE diesel engines to Fortbrand Services, Inc., for use in its line of snow removal equipment for airports.

Fortbrand, the exclusive North American distributor of Vammas snow removal machines, selected Volvo Penta after extensive research, concluding that its Tier 4 Final solution was superior to all the others on the market.

Fortbrand is installing Volvo Penta TAD1373VE engines in its Vammas PSB5500 series plow-sweeper-blower machines. This model uses one drive engine to propel the machine while a second aggregate engine powers the various snow removal systems. Currently, Volvo Penta is powering snow removal equipment at the Logan Airport (BOS) in Boston, Massachusetts, Charlotte International Airport (CLT) in Charlotte, North Carolina and the Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) in Detroit, Michigan.

“With Volvo Penta, we don’t have to worry about the engine going into a regeneration cycle while working on active runways and taxiways,” said Fred DiBenedetto, Fortbrand’s vice president of business development. “Our mission-critical machines need to work reliably in a fast-paced airport environment under some of the most adverse weather conditions, which often leads to frequent shutdowns or performance degradation during regeneration. However, that is not the case with Volvo Penta. Our customers are getting maximum productivity and uptime.

“We’ve been impressed with Volvo Penta’s engineering support, worldwide product availability and the overall economic efficiency of the engines,” said DiBenedetto. “The company continues to live up to its commitment to Fortbrand with sales, management, engineering and overall support.”

Fortbrand is rolling out more Volvo Penta engines in other machines for this year’s winter season and beyond, including the Fresia Airport Snow Blowers, Model F90.

“The results of Fortbrand’s comparison of power providers further validates what we hear from our customers – the Volvo Penta line and commitment to support continuously provides sustainable business solutions for OEMs and operators,” said Darren Tasker, vice president of industrial sales for Volvo Penta of the Americas.

Volvo Penta will be exhibiting alongside sister company Volvo Construction Equipment at the 2017 CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas. Visit North Hall Booth 10036 for more information about Volvo Penta’s Tier 4 final solution for industrial applications.
